The paper presents description and analysis of the upgraded felling-skidding machine (FSM). It offers a range of technical solutions for efficiency improvement and FSM using expansion, including fuel chips production and log spurs construction with the wood waste. The creation of FSM with advanced features provides the partial import substitution of machines for CTL logging.

The article reflects the modern problem of logging process relating to the development of hard-to-forest areas. A perspective for the development of hard-to-forest areas. Given the basic logistics for transporting wood using airships. A mathematical model to describe the performance of the airship to transport timber.The proposed mathematical model to determine the performance of airships in the development of hard-to-forest areas allows: to evaluate the effectiveness of airships in the development of different types of forest areas, choose the best option in the logistic scheme of transportation of timber, and therefore choose the technological equipment, to an economic assessment of the transport component of the timber with airships.

The technique of pilot natural studies by definition of critical effort at which there is a capsizing of the trees together with root system growing on coast of reservoirs of the hydroelectric power stations subject to washout as a result of impact of fluctuations of water level, wind, wave loadings and abrasion is given It is necessary for establishment of possibility of use of trees of a coastal zone as support of rope system of devices for collecting and transportation of wood. Pilot studies were conducted on Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk reservoirs during the period from 2000 to 2012.

In article considered new rigging locks, for reliable fastening of raft side binding, chains, bindings when forming sections, rulers and rafts from assortments and switches, and also the "ownerless" wood with various dimensional characteristics differing in simplicity, availability and low cost of their production in the conditions of repair bases the timber floating of the enterprises are described.

The article describes the construction of a modern forest instrument for forest inventory operations. The equipment consists of a caliper and a built-in marking device. The developed construction allows conducting two operations simultaneously: determination of a trunk diameter and marking a measured tree trunk. The suggested construction leaves visual marks on measured tree trunks automatically, that allows avoiding doubling of measuring results.

The article examines the existing methods for coupe demarcation and the ways of fixation of wood plots at an area for future logging works. A new method is suggested, based on using RFID-technologies. Fixation of borders in this method is realized using RFID-tags with recorded information placed into the ground. Using the suggested method will allow lowering the labour intensity of coupe demarcation, fixing of exact borders of a logging site at an area, eliminating logging works out of the bounds of cutting areas, etc.

The article reflects the contemporary problems of the transport component of the process of logging. In clause the opportunity of use balloon cable system descent to transport operations in remote mountain conditions is described. Dependence of system on wind influences is reflected. Proceeding from this, the design procedure of dynamic pressure which arise in the top suspension bracket of system is resulted, in view of mobility of a balloon under action of a wind. The technique allows to estimate the pressure arising in the top and bottom points of a suspension bracket at change of force of a wind, lengths of a suspension bracket, a corner and speed deviation of a balloon.

Presented article provides the results of experimental studies related on the centrifugal impregnation of pine wood process. The studies were carried out respecting influence of the percentage of summerwood and latewood in the impregnated samples on the speed of centrifugal impregnation (impregnant consumption per processing time), and the impregnation depth (the ratio of the volume of absorbed liquid to the total volume of the pore space of a wood sample). On the basis of these results it is shown that the percentage of latewood in a sample does not significantly affect the speed of centrifugal impregnation, while the percentage of latewood affects the impregnation depth (regression model obtained). Furthermore, it is shown that the inner space filled with the impregnant after centrifugal impregnation occurs uniformly along impregnation front trace. The conclusion follows with a list of promising directions for further research on the subject of wood impregnation process using centrifuges.

Presented the results of investigation of the motion of logging trucks using systems GPS-monitoring. Is investigated change of output per shift productivity calculated for considering trains when moving at a distance of 150 to 500 km in increments of 50 km. Examined the effect of distance of transportation and standard deviation values of speed on change the output per shift productivity. More than that was is studied the influence of transport distance and shift productivity values on the change the cost of removal of 1 cubic meter of timber harvested.

Results of computer modeling intense the deformed condition of a design of road clothes of the lesovozny highway on vertical movings and tangents to tension by a method of final elements on the program PLAXIS complex are given. To estimate the effectiveness of forest machines developed technological possibility coefficient. Coefficients reflect the ability to provide a given performance of transport vehicles in the logging, the decline in the quality of the skid road surface. Method allows determining the amount of logging residues, necessary for the skid road construction. At calculating the available volume accounted for logging residues. Resources of logging residues are calculated depending on the type of timber and the length of skid road. The method allows selecting the optimum system of machines to work in these natural production conditions or schedule performance loss due to reduced carrying capacity of skid road.
