The paper is based on a review of the scientific publications released from May through October 2019, the greater part of which, namely 14 papers, is included in the Web of Science scientometric database. The authors of the papers analyzed explore the construction industry problems over the past 5 years. The foreign studies listed in the reference section were based on the analysis of reviews falling in the above-mentioned timeline. The purpose of this paper is to identify the problems hindering the implementation of BIM technologies in the construction sector, not only in the foreign countries, but also in Russia.
Keywords: building information modeling, construction organizations, critical problems, external factors, absence of organizational support
The paper focuses on energy efficient reconstruction of construction systems by means of their upward extension using modular spatial structures. It is further noted that the existing contradictory definition of the term “modular structures” necessitates classifying modular structural elements by spatial dimension, type and size, weight, degree of prefabrication, constructability and environmental safety. A list of the world’s leading manufacturers is provided featuring modular spatial structures to be used in the construction of new buildings and reconstruction of existing buildings. Also, the paper underlines the importance of using added stories in making modular roof structures of lightweight metallic structures (LMS) and lightweight thin-wall steel structures (LTSS) and provides an overview of the main types of modules, pointing out the key benefits of modular structures.
Keywords: modular building structures, energy efficient reconstruction, upward construction, structural and non-structural modules, constructability
The paper reports that there currently exist various technologies and methods for achieving energy efficiency of reconstructed buildings and facilities. It highlights the fact that practically all mansard construction technologies conform to the up-to-date requirements for energy efficiency and resource conservation. At the same time, the analysis of a number of foreign and national publications shows that the modern trends in ensuring energy efficiency of buildings and facilities are based on the use of solar, thermal and biocincrete panels, which also prove to be environmentally friendly.

This paper logically continues the first part of the work describing roof construction with the use of translucent materials. The analysis of the current tendencies in the construction of roofs for sports and entertainment facilities showed that the contemporary studies are focused on the development of sliding roofs and the most recent trends feature façade and roof coatings made of ethylene copolymer and tetrafluorethylene based (ETFE) film. This paper discusses the most prominent advantages of membrane cushion roofing in the light of the summary analysis covering the articles of foreign authors. It mentions that ETFE cushion roofs are also used to restore buildings and structures of historical significance. The paper goes on to suggest a new structure of sliding roof and describes the construction technology taking into account the experience of building ETFE cushion roofs.
